In-Mold Labeling (IML) is an effective way to include information and/or images on plastic parts. Unlike adhesive labels that provide information on the surface, the information is printed directly into the part. In-mold labeling is a process that merges the label and packaging during the plastic injection molding process. This process saves money and also reduces secondary operations related to handling and gluing.

Gas injection molding is a process in which nitrogen is injected into the mold cavity partially filled with molten plastic. The gas under pressure forms a bubble in the center of the melt. Since the gas opposes the contraction of the shrinkage on the outside, it eliminates the casting marks. This technique reduces the amount of plastic by enlarging the central cavity, resulting in lighter parts with a better surface quality. This use offers many possibilities to the designers of castings to produce more complex parts while maintaining a smooth surface.
